This has been a source of much discussion in my house since the whole boat idea turned into an actual boat in my basement. As noted earlier there were many names bounced around. My daughter turning down her name being on the boat deterred me, but not for too long. I did a little research and found there's a flower in Hawaii that's a "Jasmine" species.
In Hawaiian it's "Pikake" pronounced "Pee-ka-kay".
I told my wife and she liked it, I then told my daughter the name, she looked at me curiously and asked where I got it, I said "look it up". She went to her computer and a few moments later I heard from her room a shout.. "AAAH CLEVER" So With her not contesting the name, PIKAKE it is.
She avoids the phantom embarrassment of her name on a boat. And I get to name the boat after her (though in a disguised form)
Everyone's happy.
Time: 5 months *phew*
Really nice name!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it has taken a long time to find the right one. It's REALLY important to me. Jasmine is not aware how much.
ReplyDeletePerry,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on getting to your launch day. We hope you have a wonderful time and that Pikake enjoys her trials! We await ecstatic reports and have really enjoyed following your progress - particularly the demolition of your basement!
With Best Wishes to you, the crew and all your team.
